This is Anthony from addicted2salsa. His style of salsa is similar to the style we dance at Salsa Experience - we hope you enjoy his videos as much as we do!

Music

Unless there is a DJ, you'll probably find the some of the clubs you visit can't tell you the names of the songs they play because someone else made the compilation CD for them - Here are some tracks we play in our classes. They are a mix of Latin and R&B/Soul. During the lessons and warm up/down we tend to play songs like 'Use me' and 'Perfect Love'. For the practise session afterwards we play more latin tracks. Purists might find the mix a little un-authentic - but all of these are great to listen to even if you're not dancing - and hey, we're here to have fun!

For copyright reasons we can't provide samples, but where they are available on itunes you can click the itunes button to hear a sample, and purchase if you want something to practise to - if you've heard a cool song in one of our lessons or elsewhere and don't know the name you may find it here. And if there is a song you've heard elsewhere and would like us to play then please let us know..

Which Music?

'Traditionally', salsa is danced to latin music. It can take a while to learn to pick out the beats in this music, and, as it is also usually quite fast, it can be difficult for beginners to dance to. You'll find a lot of salsa clubs play other music from R&B, jazz and soul artists - this is often slower than latin music and is easier to pick up the beat.

Salsa is danced over 8 beats - our style is 'on one' and most music with a repeating 8 beat pattern and emphasis on the 1st and 3rd beats can be used. At SalsaExperience we play a mix genres of music, so there's usually something for everyone.
